Abu Dhabi

Yas Marina is a 5.281 km, 16-corner circuit on Yas Island, designed by Hermann Tilke. The lap begins at sunset, and cars pass under the W Abu Dhabi - Yas Island hotel, while the pit exit runs through a tunnel beneath the track. The longest straight is about 1.14 km, the main overtaking place, and it leads into a slow corner where the braking is heavy.

The circuit was changed for 2021. Turns 4 to 6 were replaced by a single, less severe hairpin, and the old Turns 11 to 14 became a sweeping banked corner. Both changes were made to improve racing and allow cars to follow each other more closely. The final sector is still a slow, technical sequence beneath the hotel.

Yas Marina opened in October 2009 and hosted its first Grand Prix on 1 November that year, when Sebastian Vettel won for Red Bull. It was the season finale in 2009 and 2010 and has been the finale every year since 2014. Its permanent floodlighting was the largest sports lighting installation in the world at the time.

The circuit has staged some of the sport's decisive moments. In 2010 Vettel won the title here, and in 2021 Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton went into the final race level on points; a late Safety Car left Verstappen on fresh tyres behind Hamilton and he passed him on the last lap to take the championship.

Verstappen has won five times here (2020 to 2023 and 2025), Lando Norris won in 2024, and Kevin Magnussen set the current lap record for Haas in 2024. The 2026 race is scheduled for 6 December.
